  5. Entries have been published, and we can now know the prospective seeds from UWW's rankings for the 57kg and 65kg weights that Spencer Lee and Zain Retherford will endeavor to qualify. At 57, the potential seeds are among the clear favorites, so it's nice to see them separated. But 65 is a joke built on a broken ranking/seeding system, where none of the 4 seeds would be considered a favorite for one of the 3 available slots. Because only 4 are seeded and the rest of the bracket is random, these undeserving seeds leave open the possibility for what we've seen each of the last 2 cycles at 65kg at this event: Our guy in a loaded bracket half and someone undeserving qualifying from the other half. 57kg: 1) Aman, INDIA 2) Dingashvili, GEORGIA 3) Zandanbud, MONGOLIA 4) ?? (no other entrants ranked in UWW published Top 20) 65kg: 1) Sacultan, MOLDOVA 2) Finesilver, ISRAEL 3) Leutert, SWITZERLAND 4) Kudiev, TAJIKISTAN In Greco at 77kg, Kamal Bey should get a seed. Roberts and Coleman won't be seeded. Based on published seeding points/rankings: 1) #5 Gutu, MOLDOVA 2) #6 Lomadze, GEORGIA 3) #11 Kamal Bey, USA 4) #12 Levai, HUNGARY Kamal had a 2023 victory over Levai, 7-3, and a loss to Gutu, 3-3. Projected seeds for other freestyle weights: 74: 1) Chamizo, ITALY (automatic bc of the Azerbaijan euro qualifier debacle) 2) Salkazanov, SLOVAKIA 3) Demirtas, TURKEY 4) Kuramagomedov, HUNGARY 86: 1) Gocen, TURKEY 2) Sharipov, BAHRAIN 3) Ramazonov, BULGARIA 4) Greil, AUSTRIA 97: 1) Thiele, GERMANY 2) Baranowski, POLAND 3) Bajcajev, HUNGARY 4) Bataev, BULGARIA 125: 1) Ligeti, HUNGARY 2) Baran, POLAND 3) Lazarev, KYRGYZSTAN 4) Khotsianivskyi, UKRAINE

  6. 11 men, 1 woman - that's 12. When Snyder won the spot at Trials, he did it before Helen, so I announced he was the 11th. Helen became the first woman, so I said she was the first woman, which is more significant than being the 12th American. Not sure if they're referencing my announcement or Cody Goodwin's story where he wrote about it for USAW. Anyway, here's the answer Bruce Baumgartner (4) Mark Fuller (4) Ben Peterson Bill Kerslake Dan Chandler Dennis Hall Dick Wilson Kenny Monday Tommy Evans Wayne Baughman Kyle Snyder Helen Maroulis

  7. I know some have complained about the broadcast on Peacock, but I thought the quad box was great aside from the issues with mat 3 for a bit, especially during the JB/Facundo match. But I thought Shane deserved his own thread. He just went 5 hours broadcasting by himself and stayed on top of all of the action. Very impressive! Thank you Shane.

  10. Hopefully he makes a full recovery. He has repeatedly had to deal with tragedy and challenging circumstances throughout his life (of course his own family, but also paddock and recently sasso) and still has such a positive/uplifting perspective on life. He’s a great voice and leader in the sport. An update: https://x.com/nickcorey167/status/1783170329218560381

  12. Sorry but it looked like MM was trying to bully JB and get into his head, and then drove low into JB's legs when they were already out of bounds (which can result in an injury). If that's the case then JB was 100% right to show MM what he thought of that.

  14. Spelling is in honor of Fleetwood Mac's legendary album. But in terms of actual rumors, there have been posts suggesting that: 1) An Ivy coaching change could send ripples through the coaching carousel 2) Virginia Tech will be announcing a former head coach as a key hire for them (rumor is its Roselli) 3) Oklahoma State will be finalizing their head coach announcement next week. Probably will be Coleman, but a few desperate last minute conversations will take place (and will be unlikely to materialize) 4) Connor McGonagle rumored to be headed to Virginia Tech with Latona bumping up to 141 and Crook redshirting

  17. list of guys I can see doing it from most to least confident Marcus Blaze (watching Lilledahl torch the field this week but not being able to really touch blazes legs kinda speaks volumes on just how good this kid is) Bo Bassett: my only real concern with Bo is burnout or injury I love his work ethic but waking up before 5 am during your developmental years constantly to train and it seems hes been doing it for years feels like it could come back to bite you but I may be reading too much into that I just think in a 7 minute match its gonna be hard for guys to stop him + he has 2 years of high school left) Ben Davino: I think hes lost once in 2-3 years in high school has not wrestled senior level like some of his peers but he has the last wins over blaze, forrest, knox I also think hes a career 133 which bodes well for him imo and I expect him to red shirt. Jax Forrest: This weekend was a bump in the road for Jax but im wondering if making 125.4 two weekends in a row and going through tough competition Is too much for him. Hes wrestled between 121 and 126 for like 2 years now and he has a huge frame would like to see him take time to grow like Bo did. The talent is not a question and his feel I think is just something you're born with the two more years of high school is also in his favor here. PJ duke: I wanted to see him against higher level comp and he blew me away.Probably not a real concern its just one match but he did seem tired against Webster in the second, Webster was just trying to make something happen and walked into an inside trip so I guess I have a small concern about his tank for 7 minutes but he has another year of high school so im not all too concerned Luke Lilledahl: Only thing that hurts my confidence in Luke is I think hes going right away and I believe hes a bit better at free than folk. That being said I absolutely think he could win it next year PSU if they have anything going against them is their 125 track record. Aedon Sinclair: If he goes right away for Missouri I don't think he gets it done, hes incredible but he did struggle with the physicality of the more mature guys at the LCQ so I think he needs some time to mature. Connor Mirasola: For a heavier guy this kids ability to score in different ways on his feet are absolutely unreal. Ladarion Lockett: Would like to see his handfight evolve a bit he may have issues with guys that are super positionally sound if he can't open them up. Melvin Miller: He's only a freshman in high school but this kids ability to find angles on his feet are beautiful to watch if you have not watched him wrestled Id watch his run through cadets its unreal. Hes also probably going to end up somewhere between 174-197 which given his skillset I think is a huge plus. I just think one of the other guys will do it first. Dreshaun ross: just a specimen of a human being kids like 7 feet tall and moves like a lighter guy, Unfortunately I think we may lose him to football.

  18. Bader gave a great interview with him on the most recent version of the Bader show. Dude is beyond a gentleman, just a wonderful soul and a tremendous role model. I legitimately cannot think of anyone I would choose as a better role model to show a young person, let alone a wrestler. There are few wrestlers who transcend the sport itself in the example they set and being a legit role model for any athlete or any person anywhere. J'den is one of those few. If you haven't watched it, definitely check out the episode. We are lucky to have J'den as a part of the sport. https://www.flowrestling.org/events/6197840-the-bader-show/videos?playing=12478080&limit=60

  20. I look forward to hearing how he got here. By here I mean someone who doesn't matter. From the first big NIL/employment contract, to a slow slide toward irrelevance, to a series of flirtations with returning to the place he has relevance, to a weird backtrack, to a fast slide to finally arrive at irrelevance just in time to miss out by mere weeks a chance to matter again. I would love to here his version of conversations had with WWE bosses and the decisions made. Knowing what both parties know now I have to believe neither would have chosen that contract followed by a waste of so many prime years. No third NCAA title, no World title, no second Olympic title, no WWE success either. At what price?

  21. Anytime I listen to an interview with Tom I always walk away thinking to myself how fortunate his wrestlers are to have him as their leader. Thankfully it is not life threatening and that’s good news. It’s also nice to see all the words of support he’s getting from the wrestling community including in this forum. Get well soon Tom Ryan!

  23. Folkstyle very exciting. Freestyle ,tolerable. Greco ,not so much. Folkstyle has so many more elements to it. Neutral position. Bottom and top wrestling. 3 periods. 3 point takedowns. 2,3 and 4 points for ( controlled) back exposure. Riding time is not needed but it is there. They use normal brackets. Thats a big plus. They have full wrestle backs for consolation. That is a huge plus.

  24. I see lots of posters are drinking tonight. Carr did not dominate Mesenbrink. He won 9-8 and would likely have lost if MM knew the score or the match continued. MM teched Monday, which was something Nolf came nowhere to doing. Monday is also probably better at freestyle than Carr, who only beat MM on a riding point in, yes, folkstyle. Mesenbrink is a U 20 World champ and also a U20 silver medalist. Better credentials than Nolf at that age. But let me be clear: I'm not saying MM is better than Nolf right now.. He's about 7 years younger. Get off the juice. I bet you have a hangover in the morning. Alluseeistheroomspinning

  26. JB is more than the guy who won more golds for the US than anyone else. People forget now, but when JB first won a gold medal in 2011, the US struggled to win golds. In the ten years before he won his first gold -- from 2001 to 2010 -- the US won a total of 3 golds. Then JB came in and raised the bar for everyone.

  30. I am not replying to you but to some of the other posters on here. That particular mask blocks particles 3 micron and larger. They are useless against Covid. The Covid 19 virus is .07 microns. The N95 mask which no one gave us to wear blocks particles .3 microns and larger. Better but still not very effective. Remember the covid 19 is .07 microns. the hair on your head is 70 microns in diameter to give you an idea how small the covid 19 is. Then you have all the gaps around the mask because it is a poor fit on your face. But if makes you feel better to wear a mask ,wear it.

  32. Let's apply some Lobster Logic: Millions of people voluntarily build fences around their properties. Public servants in every jurisdiction wear gold stars proudly and conspicuously. Tattoos are displayed with joy by people. Free food, clothes, transportation, and health care are sought by people the world over. Therefore, if a government were to provide these things we all would be in a form of heaven. Anyone whining about having to wear a thin easy to attach gold star to help each other out needs a swift kick in the ass. Anyone whining about having to get a small easy tattoo to help each other out needs a swift kick in the ass. Anyone whining about having to live in a secure gated community with free food, clothing, health care, and all the exercise you want to help each other out needs a swift kick in the ass. There have been several such a benevolent governments that gave all these things to special people and also gave swift kicks in the ass to whiners with the temerity to complain. Lobster just loves those types of ass kicking governments and the type of people who implemented them.

  35. I think these protests are supported by the FAR FAR left. That is a subset of the those that say they are democrats and who usually vote democrat. But most I's, middle of the road Ds, and Rs, are repulsed by these and do not have their support. Especially when these feckless protest warriors complain that Columbia is not feeding them. The camping is illegal. The taking over of buildings is illegal. The destruction of property is illegal. Yet these law breakers want their vegan meals and non lactose milk. There are not many in the public that support these snowflakes. These warriors are all about their cause until they get a little hungry. They are so weak and they project that. Supposedly, these are university students, but they are completely stupid and don't understand how to advocate for their cause. How they got accepted to these schools is undecipherable. They are idiots, don't know history, and don't want to know history. They completely reject that Hamas did anything wrong in raping, burning, and taking hostages. They reject that this even happened. I believe they have support from a small minority of US citizens. It will not play well for Ds that support this in Congress etc. That's my prediction. mspart

  38. You're bringing up this year, but your team took 11th. You're bringing up the lack of a trophy this year without acknowledging that they lost multiple starters (including high point scorers) to a stupid (and illegal) gambling sting operation that only two schools in the country had to deal with. You're criticizing bringing in transfers while your team is actively recruiting transfers. You're just being disingenuous because you want to dunk on Iowa, but they literally outperformed your team (and it's two total team trophies). I have to grin and bear it from teams that beat Iowa, but not from the 11th place finisher who on a yearly basis underperform their seeds, no sir, not on my watch.

  44. For me it really sucked watching Taylor lose and that is not taking anything away from Brooks, I hope he goes and wins it all. Still at this moment, I cannot believe Taylor lost. So I got to thinking, why is this bothering me so much? I don't personally know him. I have met him a few times and he has always been awesome to fans and very approachable, but why is this so difficult to accept? Then it hit me. David Taylor to me, was the first kind of superstar in our sport since he was just a young kid. There have been plenty of others, but he was the first wrestler that I was able to really follow with all the new Social Media. Magic Man of the Mat was awesome and it really caught my attention and I started following him from there. He has always had that star power and his style of wrestling really made me a fan. I don't know what his next step will be in his wrestling career, but I wish him well and I hope he will stay actively involved with the sport.
