  1. Sparks is a gem! He routinely gets put into spots where he has to broadcast for hours by himself. From personal experience that is really rough talking to yourself the whole time.
  2. Not all heros wear capes. Thanks for watching this and giving us the tldw on it. You should be commended for watching the whole thing.
  3. Confirmed it was the ID-10T error.
  4. Per the description it sounds as if it is an ID-10T error. Unfortunately, I am not qualified to fix those.
  5. Just because Ohio State hasn't landed a portal guy during NIL doesn't mean they are using the NIL to land recruits. Their big three they landed two years ago were helped by NIL. Ohio State has a massive NIL collective and one of the strongest athletic programs from top to bottom. They choose to use their NIL for incoming freshman instead of transfers so far, but don't think they wouldn't use it on a top transfer in a spot they need.
  6. From his comments and actions he doesn't seem to be one that would like to have someone else as his boss. He's not one to do things by the book, which has lead to a lot of success, but he also is very vocal about rules/laws he thinks are "stupid." I don't see him as being one that will like living under constant scrutiny of following rules with recruiting, weight management, or the millions of other NCAA rules you have to follow. With him running his club he is in full control of everything, running a college program he will be regulated to NCAA and Wisconsin rules.
  7. Askren won't last long at the college level where they have to abide by rules with recruiting and contact of prospective athletes. He would be a thorn in the side of compliance.
  8. I like giving a medalist at another weight the bye to the semi-finals. It helps us get the best possible team for the prior year at Worlds. This doesn't punish them for going after a world medal and capturing it. As far as the 2 vs. 3 match being the best, you are right. However, we all can likely agree that all of the "aliens" as you put it are top three guys. We do want as close to the best in the finals, especially at 57kg and 65kg where those are best of three matches. Punishing one half of the bracket seems very illogical and unfair to the 2nd and 3rd seeds who have proven they are contenders for a spot on the Olympic team. This honestly gives a 4 or 5 seed a better path than a 3 seed to the finals.
  9. The reasoning you suggest would still fit with the RIGHT way of doing it as they would get beat by a #2 or #5 seed and thus the justification of it being fine. I'm thinking they were just lazy and didn't want to do it correctly so they just plopped them in as they felt would be easiest. The quarter bracket that has to wrestle an extra round is at an extreme disadvantage and seems illogical in trying to get the best into the finals.
  10. At any weight this is happening you can with a lot of confidence say that the wrestler in this case is a top 3 seed. You can say that about Retherford and Valencia also. They really shouldn't be the #1 with a lack of results as you state and I agree with. That puts them in as a 2/3 seed which is fair and justified based upon their performances. With the way that USAW is doing the bracket they are forcing the #2 and #3 guys to wrestle just to get to another top 3 guy. On top of that the bottom half bracket wrestlers would be wrestling an extra match to get to the finals. This gives an extreme advantage to the top half of the bracket by putting 3 of the top 4 wrestlers on the same side.
  11. Can someone that is not dead explain why the brackets aren't made like this? Instead they just lazily plop Arujau in the bottom half forcing the #2 seed to go through the #3 seed AND the non-Olympic weight placer.
  12. Maybe @ionel and @PortaJohn can both be the self elected leaders of the Zoo.
  13. Ctrl+F if you are of average intelligence or more and use Windows
  14. Every state and school district has different rules. Some may let the parent tell them they want the kid held back, but with state and national "no child left behind" stuff it is very difficult to do. Thus, they will just pull them out and "homeschool" the kids for the year, then re-enroll as a 9th grader the next year. Pretty much every one of these kids are academically ready to advance to 9th grade and at this time schools are hard pressed to hold them back.
  15. When many kids are held back they are done so under the guise of being "home schooled." If they are in a normal school they will promote them to the next grade almost every time because they are academically proficient to advance a grade level. So thus, most of these kids don't do anything during their middle school redshirt year.
  16. Yes and there are not good places to go eat downtown. My car got broken into at the 2021 NCAAs while sitting in a "monitored" lot. I hope that person had fun with the children's shirts and change they got. Probably a little bitter, but not going to shed a tear if I never go back there.
