  1. He waved off the challenge because if he lost, he'd need a takedown to win as.opposed to a pushout.
  2. I did not see it as the general consensus. I do agree that Jordan has his own history of line-pushing. Meh, we want fans to be passionate. People just sitting around clapping for winners is a boring environment (to me). Sports hate is one of the best parts of the experience, IMO. I don't think the idiot who screamed at Burroughs should be restrained from saying anything, but I do think he can be called out. He has a right to an opinion and I have a right to have an opinion about how he expresses his opinion. I understand what you're saying, and maybe in a perfect world that would be how we consumed sports, but it's not (again, for me.)
  3. Ben Askren on FRL today essentially said Mesenbrink earned that smack from Burroughs. If the guy's own high school coach can say it, I promise you some of you can say it, too.
  4. The Zahid-Brooks thing was BS. it was incidental and didn't affect anything and should have gotten an attention call, if anything. Brooks was also the beneficiary in another close situation in his Dieringer match where he was in on Dieriger on a single, and it looked to me like Dieringer initiated an counter exposure. The Nolf-Burroughs match was odd in that Nolf never even got warned, but Burroughs scored zero points, so I don't have much sympathy for that thought process. On Gilman-Lee 1, I thought the call should have been 4, but as mentioned previously, I only really saw it out of the corner of my eye and the angle was bad. I've seen the screenshot floating around, but a lot of the media guys have been saying 2 was the right call. Either way, it was a close call that didn't go PSUs way.
  5. That one's pretty easy, he was wearing an NLWC shirt.
  6. These arguments are getting embarassing. Shit talking between the athletes = totally fine. Fans booing a heated opponent during the match, even if he is one of the greatest champions in our country's history = totally fine. Fans booing a heated opponent after the match, even if he's one of the greatest champions in our country's history and he may have just wrestled his last match = hmmm, kinda lame but maybe you can let it slide. 60 year old fan running over to the rail to scream at a heated opponent/one of the greatest champions in our country's history to go home and his career is over = ....I mean, it's a free country, but you look like a moron. Anyone criticizing the athletes for being arrogant, guess what, they're all arrogant to some degree. Get over yourself. You can't be siding with Carter Starocci and Bo Nickal because the other, far more successful wrestler is arrogant.
  7. just went back to watch Mesenbrink-Burroughs again. Mesenbrink was being a dick throughout. That's fine (honestly, I'm a fan of both him and the antics), but if you're going to be a dick, sometimes you're going to get popped, lol.
  8. My god, lol. Lotta talk from the guy who didn't make the walk. And lol at Mesenbrink wouldn't retaliate, he was doing crap the whole match. I take back my standing ovation from Kansas City!
  9. It's relatively simple (although stupid). All the weights that aren't qualified for the Olympics were going to have the first two matches in the morning and a third (if required) in the evening. The qualified weights only had one match in the morning. Maybe to give more advantage to the medalists?
  10. I was unprepared for the onslaught of emotions I felt at the end of Match 2.
  11. My point is there is usually only a true second if the finals loser and the third place finisher didn't meet during the tournament.
  12. The bracket is showing Mesenbrink over Burroughs by NC for true second? Why would there be a true 2nd where Burroughs already beat Mesenbrink?
  13. It's long been the rumor that Bo was not a fan of how Taylor's injury was handled, which may have prevented Nickal from a world team spot. That said, I think Cael.has pretty definitively shown his loyalty (as far as on the mat) is almost totally results based. Taylor may be about done, so golden boy status may be as well. This is purely from a wrestling resources perspective. I'm sure interpersonally he still cares.
  14. Taylor is just winding down to start his Iowa coaching career.
  15. Spencer the most skilled guy in the country at the weight. The only question is the tank. Great to see him make it...now he has to qualify the weight.
  16. If Lee loses this one, hard to see him winning one tonight when Zain weighs 190lbs.
  17. I only saw the action out of the corner of my eye and never saw a replay, did they show one? Did Spencer turn down?
  18. Lee in 2. Zain in 3. Dake in 2. Taylor in 2. Snyder in 2. Parris in 2.
  19. My wife's birthday celebrations have forced me to watch this into the early evening. THOUGHTS! 57: Lee and Gilman both looked good, but a second day of cutting for Gilman could be rough, especially for match 1. That said, Spencer obviously not Mr. Gas Tank himself. 65: I thought all the semifinalists looked really good, actually! Rooting for Zain. 74: Sad to see, but Father Time always wins. Burroughs was stuck in mud. F u c k that one fan. Nolf was oddly passive, but that scoring double was FILTHY. 86: That was straight horseshit. Zahid got screwed. 97: Geezus, Trumble. Snyder a whole different beast though. 125: I may have overestimated Kerk.
  20. Yeah, I think it's a combination of the high level of domestic competition plus the fact that there are more Russians wrestling now (for other countries).
  21. Burroughs and Smitty are very close for me, but I have it Burroughs by a hair.
