  1. He's really good... I've been watching him wrestle in person for a while now
  2. Call me naive but I think it's nuts this is going on in our sport but on second thought with a country like AZE, and the more blatant corruption in that part of the world, it shouldn't surprise me. Just shitty that he didn't get the $300k anyhow after they literally stole that match from him.
  3. Clip of an interview from about 10 days ago or so talking about his training and also hits on Dake a bit saying he's not a champion yet essentially because he hasn't beaten everyone that should be in a fully loaded world/olympic bracket (ie Sidakov). Also talks about training with Burroughs and how he's lighting it up right now and more focused than he's ever seen. Seems to hold Jordan in much higher regard than Dake...
  4. My guy.... JB said what he did in response to a question from DC during Carter's' match. You need to let this one go, you're just digging a deeper hole.
  5. Oh boy here we gooo.... let's unpack this one at a time for you.... No one is above criticism nor did I claim he was. I merely was saying at this point in his career as with many other generational athletes at some point most people just show respect for their accomplishments due to how few have had that kind of success. I hated Tom Brady for years because he put my team in purgatory but after a while I just respected his greatness... Not even addressing your Ragusin/John Smith comments because it's not related to my post whatsoever. As for JB not being liked by his peers I'll use one of your quotes "Do YoU hAvE aNy eviDenCe to bAcK uP tHiS cLaiM..?" By the way, Michael Jordan punched his teammates in the face, Tiger Woods didn't talk to anyone in the locker room until his later years and the list goes on and on... I don't care, the guy is GREAT- along with that greatness comes a level of arrogance. Bo hasn't come close to JBs international success and he's demonstrating his own arrogance constantly... I'm not trying to be best friends with the guy, and he competes with many of his peers so of course there will be friction. As for charging money for camps? The dude is trying to make a living while he is most relevant, if people are willing to pay, so be it. Don't care. About starocci's international career- it's my opinion bro... just like you have yours, some may be right, some may be wrong - but either way I can voice my opinion whether you like it or not so take it easy with your "get off my lawn" post (I swear man, I've been on here and participated in this forum for years and you always seem to be the most argumentative person here.) Feel free to print this out and save it if it means that much to you to shove in my face after Starocci wins Olympic Gold and 6 world titles, and finishes top 3 in 3 others...
  6. Funny watching these guys go at Burroughs.... You'd think at this point in his career it would just be a lot of respect towards him regardless if you're a competitor in the same weight class or not considering he's basically on the wrestling Mt Rushmore... My personal opinion is Starocci could win all the NCAA titles he wants, he'll never be close to the international wrestler that JB is... This is one of those times where you just take the high road but build your brand and all that blah blah blah...
  7. This has been my sentiments as well over the years...
  8. Great post, much appreciated! Does anyone know or anticipate what time they expect the challenge tournament to finish up the first day?
  9. 100% agree... I'm not going to bag on Stutzman because he did have some great years by their standards but for them to not sniff an all American in 11 years is kind of rough. Would love to see them at least 2nd behind Cornell in the state vs having Columbia, Long Island and the Binghamton outperforming them.
  10. Pipe Dream... Burroughs falls short at Olympic trials and hangs up his shoes... his wife being from Buffalo finally wants to move back near family after helping Jordan chase his dream all these years. He agrees to take the Buffalo coaching job and turns Buffalo into a new epicenter of wrestling in the northeast ready to compete with the big dogs!
  11. By the looks of the press release, UB has let go of John Stutzman... Who should they bring in for the new coach? With programs like Little Rock punching in 2 all Americans for the short amount of time they've been a program it's not all surprising a school like UB would reconsider who their coach is... Considering the location geographically, they could draw mid tier recruits from PA/NY/OH/NJ and field a decent team, they just haven't been all that good at recruiting in my opinion. Would love to see them bring in someone young with at least a little bit of pedigree to jumpstart the program. what do you guys think?
  12. How much on average are wrestlers getting in NIL money? It's got to pale in comparison with Football and basketball... just curious if anyone has insight into the amounts the top and mid tier guys get?
  13. The hard part for me to see is him moving on from his life in state college with how engrained he and his family seem to be there personally and professionally alike. Although the same could have been said about Cael leaving Iowa/midwest for PA. When I think of the "Iowa Style" or just the Hawkeye way, DT isn't who would come to mind but maybe they need a total retooling of the culture there. Wrestling evolves like all things do and it's a matter of if Iowa is O.K. With changing their approach to the sport. Out toughing guys isn't really a thing anymore in my opinion because everyone is tough... I think it would be really cool to see that kind of change looking to the future of the program vs continuing down the current path. It just doesn't seem like they are having a ton of fun, not a lot of smiles/very serious can wear on an athlete and a program. We joke about penn state always saying they just have fun but there's some truth to it being an important ingredient.
  14. One thing to remember is they also had the late scratch with Cornella who seemingly would have scored some amount of points. I just think for lack of transfer portal options, lack of traditional athletic scholarships, academic standards etc... It's amazing what they do there. They may never be on a list behind the likes of Penn state, Iowa, Ok St, Ohio state etc. for national titles but to always be right at the top in the mix is really something. Then you could go on about the international success the RTC has had as well. Its entirely possible although somewhat unlikely (assuming all weights are qualified) that half of the olympic team could be occupied by former Cornell wrestlers.
  15. The whole tournament I was thinking Cornell was way under performing and was frustrated by it... for them to underperform as much as they did and still place 2nd is pretty insane...
  16. I'm always usually for the underdogs meaning I'll occasionally root for teams other than penn state but it's impossible not to root for MM.
  17. When he pointed to the line at the center of the mat I got freaking goose bumps, he just seemed to be in a totally different place mentally... I do like crookham but he's very much a counter wrestler and getting behind on the scoreboard does not bode well for him especially against someone like Vito.
  18. Absolutely beautiful by Vito when he locks in he is superhuman
  19. I really hope Shapiro is the next Cornell 4 time champ
  20. Didn't have Brock Mauller going 2 and out on my bingo card
