  1. You would be surprised at how many of these "up and comers" turn down the offer or cant make weight
  2. Arena - 9/10. I didnt show up for gourmet nachos or $16 Coors Lights in a fancy cup. I came for a seat to watch wrestling. They had the same seats everyone else does Town - 8/10. Tulsa sucks but the chicks are easy. If I were married, it would be 0/10 Entertainment - 10/10. Awesome, awesome tournament. Being able to go out and get local bimbos in minutes at Orphas or Japanese chicks at Jinyas was as good or better than watching Max Murin stall his way to 6th place. Fans - 6/10. The Iowa crowd wasnt as hardcore or boisterous as normal. I live in Raider Nation and Iowa fans usually out do them. Not this time. Kind of like the Romans when they knew the underdog was gonna get killed by the lion. I moved it from 4 to 6 because of the chubby Hawkeye scorekeeper that hit the hot tub and stayed over. She was vocal if you know what I mean. Hotel staff called the room and told us to quiet down. We didnt. Penn state fans were knowledgeable and nice. Im not a fan of the school or their wrestlers, but they made me feel at home. I gave up my seat so that the 157lb kid's brother could sit next to his family and it was cool seeing them root and cheer for him. Local Food - 2/10. I went from Portland to San Diego to Vegas. Tulsa sucks. Overall - 10/10. I didnt come for fancy steak houses like The Outback, Caviar, local theater, or a bustling night time downtown close to the arena. I came for The Landing Strip, to watch Iowa get their ass kicked, and chubby girls from the next door. Tulsa came through in spades. I was disappointed that Lee and Truax didnt hit their goal; I feel bad for them because they are tough and they work hard but like Brands says "you get what you earn". Both guys have made me a fan over the years. Huge fan of the Iowa scorekeepers as well as the the 2 girls at the Adams Apartments. NCAA's arent coming back to Tulsa but god dammit, I am.
  3. I would say at least a hundred
  4. Imagine winning NCAA's and coming home to those chicks thinking its on
  5. This position was surprising to me as I saw it work out several times during the tournament. In my day, that was a really risky move but I was surprised how guys have seemed to train it and have success with it despite me agreeing with your sentiment before I watched the tournament.
  6. Listening to the many of the coaches, especially Minnesota coaches, and overhearing them quite a bit, they really should re-evaluate how they interact with referees. They argue every single call that doesnt go their way, even when they dont even have angle to see it, or they are just plain dead wrong. Sometimes they were right, but why would you call a referee "terrible, youre so terrible", when it was a 50/50 locking hands call and youre guy is winning by 5 points with 10 seconds left? Consistently getting screamed at for every call, getting called names when there is video evidence showing that the referee was right is not the best way to win over the ref. Hes gonna remember you calling him an idiot all day on the next one that is 50/50. And for crying out loud, you dont have to scream TWOOOOOOOO in every single crackdown position, especially when seconds after you yell it, your guy is on his back. I am a big Minnesota fan - I went to every camp when I was a senior and even went out to UM a few summers and worked the camps and trained. I bringing it up because I want to see them win and their antics are detracting.
  7. Honest question because I do not know the answer. If you have guy broken and he fouls you to where the foul disqualifies him, can you decline that and appeal for the match to continue? Kind of like how you could decline the old tech rule.
  8. Gilman vs Terry Brands DeSanto vs Jesus Wilson DF vs Rob Rohn TJ Hill vs Nick Simmons Metcalf vs Ray Brinzer
  9. Being a college coach, a highschool coach, and a wrestler who was on the sports calendar twice, I can confidently say that your experience in sports has way more enjoyment when your fellow athletes go watch, and it builds so much synergy when individuals, and especially entire teams, go out and root on their fellow athletes. Some of the best memories I had off of the mat in college was going to random events like womens fast pitch or lacross meets and rooting like hell for randoms in our classes and getting to see their faces when literally, we are the only ones to show up their entire collegiate career that werent family.
  10. Seems like you are projecting your own personality that is low key, humble, and straight edge. You have to remember, not all people are like that. That being said, a wrestler might be trying to build his own brand, but as a coach, you are building your own brand for your team as well.
