  1. This has been an entertaining dual to watch….
  2. Metzger would use any room that would allow him in. I’m surprised he’s not holding a sign on the side of the road that reads “will wrestle for food”. That is one of the reasons we left the Denton ISD (Lantana)
  3. UNT didn’t even have a practice facility, they had to use Liberty Christian’s room. Not to mention, Denton ISD doesn’t even have wrestling. It would be a tough sell there. However, a D1 program in DFW makes the most sense - that area has the best overall HS talent, proximity to Oklahoma and the panhandle, hopefully spark some of those mid-sized high schools to start up programs, etc
  4. As a Denver-area resident, I would love to have the NCAA's here. Unfortunately, the Ball Arena cannot host the tournament - the floor space is too small. There are no other venues in CO that could host.
  5. Anyone on here have kids who are wrestling there this year?
  6. GA Tech is 70/30 male (or at least male-identifying)
  7. Well, he’s not coming to PSU this year, so it’s kinda irrelevant.
  8. Just joking, I know that neither you nor he have interest in folk. It’s just fun to see him toy with HS kids. Big congrats to Max!
  9. Are we gonna see Otto back on the mat in high school next year?
  10. Pulling kids from NY and CA to represent your state would definitely qualify as “taking liberties”
  11. Aden is from northern CA, Zahid/Anthony/Cael are from the LA area.
  12. UNT is positioned best for starting a program in Texas, because… - it’s not associated with the UT system - proximity to Allen, Martin & other top schools in the state, as well as less than an hour from OK and 5 hrs from the panhandle (lots of tough kids) - cheaper than UT, A&M, Tech and the private schools (SMU, TCU, Rice) - they do have a club team, though Andre Metzger is not exactly someone you want as the face of an NCAA program. Not a bad guy, just off his rocker - it’s a growing school, and Denton Co is exploding as well - Denton ISD does NOT have wrestling in any of their schools, which could hurt (lack of local interest), and no real club presence. It’s not a popular sport in the city of Denton
  13. I imagine Mauger will be a career 125. He’s tiny, will definitely need a year or two to fill into that weight. Bast is long and lanky, I see him 141/149 in time. Hopefully Mizzou can fill 133/141 in a few years with another kid from out west
  14. I don’t know how I stayed employed and/or married from ‘03 thru around ‘11/‘12. If we had smart phones then, I’m pretty sure I would have been both divorced and unemployed. The non-wrestling forum on Themat.com forums didn’t help either. Thankfully we were young, and excessive alcohol consumption that was forced on me by the likes of Jonathan, Pollock, Swain, etc wasn’t so consequential
  15. I certainly do. He’s on here as well (under a different username). And yes, he can probably recall every Mizzou wrestler’s state of origin & HS record over the last 25 yrs
  16. Rocky will be a senior when Sinclair is a redshirt, so that shouldn’t be too much of a problem. The log jam at 184 will shake out, hopefully one of them can make the cut to 174 after Mocco leaves. Regarding Wolbert, he’s only a freshman so he’s a ways away from technically being recruited. BUT….he is the real deal. Cadet Fargo champ, undefeated freshman state champ (beat nationally ranked Ben Bast 3x, including in the state finals), and a flat-out assassin. After next summer he needs to be on of our top targets. How many AWA kids have gone to/committed to Mizzou….4? O’Toole, Mocco, Whiting, Sinclair….who else? What other WI kids have we had? Askren x2, Wagner…? It’s not like we’ve owned the Wisconsin pipeline or anything
  17. Lorenzo Neal (Fresno St) was a 2x NCAA qualifier and AA in '92 @ HWT (5'11" and JACKED). Played 16 or so seasons in the NFL, and was a multiple time Pro Bowler
  18. He's definitely looking better at his more natural weight (and maybe being back home helps, too). When he cuts a lot, he doesn't perform well. He'll be a legit 141/149 in college in a few years.
  19. Some big names out of this class are... LaDarion Lockett (OK) - 152/160 Sampson Stillwell (MO) - HWT Marcus Blaze (OH) - 120/126 Anthony Knox (NJ) - 120/126 Nathan Desmond (PA) - 113/120 Landon Robideau (MN) - 132 (committed to Minnesota) Dalton Perry (PA) - 138 (committed to PSU) Kollin Rath (PA) - 138 Ty Eise (CO) - 175 I'm sure I'm missing a few. There are a bunch of lightweight sophomores who are hammers (S Mendoza, Castillo, Cortez, DeLuca, Mutarelli, etc). I would be surprised if Lockett doesn't end up at OSU, and Knox at Princeton (that's the rumor). Keep an eye on Stillwell - this class at HWT is thin, and he will be a highly prized recruit. The kid is a monster
