  1. Reminds me why I stopped being a boxing fan overnite: De La Hoya and Bob Arum conspiring to avoid putting a single undefeated fighter at risk for three years to try and create a single mega fight as well as Floyd Mayweather ducking Pacman in his prime.

  3. I love the stock; I liked it at 65, at 61 it's an insult!
  4. Wow and yet 2021 had a beautifully boring 133 bracket
  5. Lewan was at a tough weight, Amine too... Scott- 5th to R12 Franek-4th to 8th Robb- 6th to 7th Andonian- 7th to 6th (used to the new weight) Blockhus- 8th to R16 (moved up a weight) That said, they did stink it up regular season too. Was the 3 point takedown their kryptonite to their boring matches? After all, only a master like Fix can fix his way into being a repeat offender runner up when the rules change against him.
  6. He'd rather destroy Iowa in the tourney than have to run duals against 'em I'm guessing!
  7. Quarters at NU were brutal. I didn't think it would matter much but my GPA at a semester school was 3.8 and at a quarter school was 3.5 after 2 years at each. The falloff was dramatic and that sleep deprivation with the short breaks felt bad. The kids felt more intelligent at NU also. I know a couple kids with 3.0-3.1 GPA who scored in the top 1% of the country on the MCAT and got into medical schools.
  8. This doesn't bother me at all. I did eighth grade a year early because my father wanted me to be a rich productive member of society a year early; I entered high school at 60 pounds and wrestled with a 28 to 30 pound deficit freshman and soph year, and a 8 pound deficit Junior year. I also was the last of my friends to party at the college bars! Senior year I kicked some butt- weighed 5 to 10 pounds over 103 each week. Wrestling underweight stunts your development.
  9. He was great this year. He likely could have been a R12 guy even with the stacked 197 class.
  10. I felt like officials were very generous to Figueroa on the stalling calls. The guy bored me just a bit less than Lewan and Fix do. That said, what a gauntlet he walked through over the last four weeks after looking out of shape and disastrous two thirds of the season! I will be cheering for Ayala to beat him next year.
  11. I said to my nephew "Haines makes Lewan look like a dwarf"
  12. 125 Palmer 22 133 Farber 19 141 Matthews 18 149 Abas 26 157 Mauller 17 165 Filipowicz 19 174 Pasiuk 18 184 Soldano 21 197 Novak 17 285 Pitzer 21
  13. Is anyone interested in doing a pool and or confidence ranking for the tourney? I think some weight classes like 125/133/157/165/197 look fun. Here are some ideas we could do for free, $5 or $10 entries per bracket. Tell me which idea # you like, if any and value you'd want to play for. Idea 1- Fill out the bracket for one weight class. On the championship bracket get points equal to wrestler's seed for every correct match advancement. On consolation bracket get points equal to half of wrestler's seed for every correct match advancement. This could also be done using growing points more traditionally per round ignoring seeds. Bracket completion has flaws given all the possibilities and misplaced losses/shifts between championship and consolation bracket though. Idea 2- Choose 5 to 10 wrestlers for one weight, assign them confidence rating. For 8 wrestlers assign 8 (most valuable) to 1 (least). Multiply the confidence rating by a point value per place, for example : Finish Point Value Round 12: 1 point 8th place 2 points 7th 3 6th 4 5th 5 4th 8 3rd 10 2nd 12 1st 16 We can choose # of wrestlers and point values. For example, if I assigned Hidlay an 8 confidence score and he placed 2nd I would get 96 points, 8*12 Idea 3- choose a bundle of 6 to 8 wrestlers for one weight class where their seeds must add up above some number. Like 6 wrestlers the seeds must add up above 28, for instance. Scoring similar to idea 2 except without the confidence multipliers Let me know what you guys think.
