  1. Does that bother you? I swear this is the most worn out "joke" on all of this forum---and that includes the likes the Jimmy C.
  2. Y'all crack me up You complain when there is no stalling called, saying it should be called more often You complain when there is stalling called, saying it shouldn't be called so often.
  3. Yeah, because you can't find enough of that elsewhere on the interweb
  4. Why does it bother so many people that these guys say this? I mean, it's their life, not yours.....so asking honestly, why does it trouble you so much?
  5. For all the talk about Bartlett not taking a shot.....he was the only one who did the entire match.....Mendez didn't shot once...in fact, never even attempted one. And yet he ends up winning.
  6. Cornell shouldn't challenge.......it giving Fix lungers
  7. So the RT stops on locked hands? That I did not know.....thanks for clarifying.
  8. I think they challenged the count not being 5 prior to the escape. That is challengeable, I believe.
  9. If Ragusin would have ridden Fix for another 9 seconds, he would have won, correct? If so, wouldn't you take a chance on riding him for that short period of time it lieu of getting a TD or a stall call?
  10. It was Hofstra....and even though it was a while ago, it still is probably the biggest dick-move by a coach--well, ever. He couldn't stay at MSU, and he was leaving for a school that posed no threat to MSU. Minkel had no reason to hold up his transfer, other than he was just being a prick about it.
  11. Reading this reminds me of the whole fiasco surrounding Minkel's failure to release--I believe it was Nik Fekete--from his fifth season. Fekete (or whomever it was--I know someone will correct me if wrong) had already completed his degree, and needed to enroll in a graduate program to continue wrestling. The issue was--Michigan State didn't have the program available, so he couldn't stay if he wanted to......and Minkel refused to sign his release form allowing him to transfer to Lehigh (again, I believe...going off memory). Dick-move extraordinaire!!!
  12. MSU--if you remove the match v. Michigan, they had 4 dates and drew 2298.....or 574 per match--barely outdrawing CMU. We have High Schools in the state which draw better crowds for home contests.
  13. You are saying smaller programs will get cut because they can't win the NCAA? A kid who transfers away from a smaller program rarely has a negative financial impact on the program he is leaving. Programs typically get cut for political reasons---take Eastern Michigan, for example. They were self-funded mostly from a former wrestler who set up an endowment---and the cut the program so they could also cut a couple women's programs (insert Title IX) and be able to build a new practice facility for their football team. I would agree with you that the NIL has an impact, but I suggest that has a greater impact on the larger revenue sports like Basketball and Football, than it does on wrestling, which generates little to nothing to a school's athletic budget. Just my view from the cheap seats......
  14. Not to long ago Iowa won 11 of 12 and 9 of 10 and in a span of 25 years, Iowa won it 20 times.......and not many people complained about them getting all the talent back then.
  15. So if they want an excuse, wouldn't that make them......... <wait for it.......>
  16. Point 1--actually, he really doesn't need to state it. I am just saying that was a possibility--however temporary it may have been or is-- How often to we see breakdown of top-notch athletes when then fail to meet their goal and objective? Point 2--Actually, I am not being defensive for him. He can speak for himself. I've simply stated that I am not in the group of people who believe he owes me anything--including an explanation. It's all good, it's just my view from over here in the cheap seats.
  17. Yeah, and?? You are stating that somehow Spencer Lee owes an explanation to us. And I'm of the belief he doesn't owe any of us anything....now or in the future. Doesn't matter what he says, half the people won' believe him--because, after all 'excuses are for wusses' and the other half won't really care why he dropped out. There really is no upside to him saying anything. I get that many WANT an answer. Hell, I want to be 6'4 and in shape......doesn't mean it will happen.
  18. There was also speculation he left Tulsa and returned to Io_a. And speculate that he kicked a puppy on this way out of the arena, and that he went to Hank's and ate 15 Big Okie Burgers, and couldn't make weight on Saturday. In short....rumors from the armchair wrestlers on the interweb should be take with a grain of salt. And my not so humble opinion---mental state of mind can and should be a viable reason for MFF. After all, didn't the world cheer and say how brave a certain young tennis star was when she dropped out of a major tournament due to this reason or the Olympic Gymnast dropped out of the games siting mental fatigue as the reason? We like to believe that elite wrestlers are the strongest athletes mentally---but in reality, they are no different than any other elite athlete. Just my view from the cheap seats.........
  19. Sort of what I was thinking....... We are commending someone for doing what they are expected to do.
  20. He owes you an explanation? Seriously?!?!!? Okay, I'll bite......why would he owe anyone--you, me, Brands, Gable, The Man in the Moon---anything? Premier athletes compete to satisfy themselves. I for one don't believe he--or any one else who toed the stripe last weekend--owes anyone anything. Just my view from the cheap seats......
  21. By far the worst tactical mistake at the NCAA was allowing ESPN to take over 3 hours to show 10 matches. I'm all for advertising dollars and all......but if you want to draw in new (casual) fans, then dragging the event out longer isn't the way to do it. Just my view from the cheap seats.......
