  1. I've watched every televised Buffalo dual over the last two years. He seems to be a very passionate coach with good results from limited resources. I view them as a team in a similar situation to Binghamton, but the Bearcats have been more impressive than the Bulls by a reasonable margin. Buffalo should aim to outperform teams like Binghamton as an appropriate benchmark.
  2. well he did lose to Jay Aiello and Lou DePrez in the tournament that he won
  3. another weird one I noticed - the previously retired Billy Janzer from Rutgers
  4. And in the short term, no one could blame any young wrestler from accepting a 6 digit endorsement deal for a team that loses money in a sport that very few care about. It does feel like we need some strong leadership in the sport at the moment
  5. Yeah I was talking about the whole sport. If Penn State and a few others figure out a way, that won't be enough. The others will die and Penn State will have no one else to compete against. I'm talking long term, but it feels inevitable without a change in strategy
  6. I heard that from Askren but folks here convinced me with good reason that even if possible, it would be difficult and perhaps unlikely
  7. I'm really glad to hear that. Thanks for sharing
  8. As much as I would like to blame the NCAA - at some point its up to the different sports to think of a way to be financially independent or else die on the vine
  9. Any updates on his situation? I couldn't help but think of him being absent this past weekend
  10. Your list makes me think of a good idea: who are the best transfers at each weight who went from a bigger program to a smaller one. From your list alone you have Noto from NC State to Lock Haven and Quinn Kinner from Ohio State to Rider. Going back in time of course you have Kolat and Marstellar. Evan Wick from Wisconsin to Cal Poly. Who else am I missing
  11. dude are you talking about this board: https://virginiatech.sportswar.com/message_board/vtwrestling/66034ef8a595e40014b7a3b4 I can't find which guys are being mentioned. Any idea who?
  12. transfer portal by weight so far: 125: Evan Tallmadge 133: Connor McGonagle 141: Peyton Moore 149: Sammy Alvarez 157: Jason Kraisser 165: Dean Hamiti 174: nhs67 184: James Lledo 197: MPhillips 285: PJ Casale
  13. Between Dean Hamiti and Connor McGonagle, so far we have two guys from the all star matches hitting the portal.
  14. Jason Kraisser, Iowa State has entered the portal
  15. If he does, he'll be closer to 141 than 157. The amount of muscle loss when you go through that sort of lack of mobility is extreme. In high school, I came back from a life threatening car crash and being in a wheel chair - mid season and qualified the weight. by the end of the season as I put muscle back on - it was extremely difficult. the weight class was 112 and by conferences they gave us two lbs so it was 114. The night I won conferences and went back home hydrated, and ate a simple meal - I was 130. I nearly killed myself getting back down to 114 for states
  16. He is a full fledged 97 kg guy so the 197 is a tough cut but doable.
  17. I thought I heard that somewhere too, but it doesn't make much sense to me for various reasons. 1) He doesn't have a lot of length to support that sort of bulk up 2) They don't have a 133 lber otherwise and they do have several 141s
  18. Do you envision Will Baysingar ever hitting the starting lineup? Also I thought Ruzic at 125 is a high enough caliber guy that there was an expectation he may start as a true freshman
  19. Evan Tallmadge - Freshman from Navy enters the portal. He beat Colton Camacho from Pitt pretty handily but then got injured before Christmas and never came back from it. I'm curious if his Naval Academy credits easily transfer elsewhere and whether or not he owes any money or service to the academy in exchange for his one year.
  20. Hamiti still has his apendix, both kidneys, a full head of hair, and all of his toes. I think a good surgeon could get him down to 157
