  1. Maximo is a very good wrestler. Last year I remember watching him lose 2-3 to Ramos and then pin (not called by the ref though) DeAugustino in consecutive weeks. as a fan, was sorry to see him leave the orange and blue, but hope he has big success at Oregon State.
  2. good call! maybe Baysingar could slot in at 149 at some point down the line.
  3. Possible Illini lineup: 25 - Caelan Riley 33 - Byrd 41 - Pucino 49 - Webster (will he be too big for 149?) or Harrier 57 - Roberts or Scoles (or Webster?) 65 - D. Braunagel or Moore (RS?) 74 - Ruth! 84 - Connell 97 - Z. Braunagel Hwt - Luffman I'm not as close watching a fan as most here, so i don't know if any incoming freshman might challenge for starting sports though. I'm seeing 5 likely AAs including at 33, 49 (or 57), 74, 97, and Hwt
  4. I voted for Ryan Crouser because he has the best hair and could kick all three of those wrestlers' butts (probably at the same time) if he needed to.
  5. If these schools were smart, they'd add men's AND women's wrestling. doing both at the same time fixes any title IX compliance issues (guessing...I have little idea what actually goes into that). It also makes it way easier to justify expenditures on things like upgrading training facilities as dollars spent will benefit two times the athletes. Also, starting a women's program from scratch would certainly be easier at that level than a men's program in the talent-packed B1G.
  6. I think he has attended a (real!) wresting meet in the past 12 months, so I’ll give him a pass on this topic alone.
  7. Definitely not a fall. And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you…
  8. Bring back ties in dual meet bouts. Maybe keep the first SV period within duals and after that it’s a tie. Obviously for elimination tournaments you need overtime and tie breaks. If you can’t be ahead on points after 9 minutes, I don’t really care about perfect fairness. Current rules are fine.
  9. You know, a lot of people go to college for seven years.
  10. Okay, so as not to start a new thread, I'll just add my two favorite athlete related obscene gestures of sporting history. This one above has garnered so much attention, and it is physically impressive, but i think it rates kind of low in the grand scheme of things. Best gesture from a losing athlete: Think this ebay listing actually has an authentic autograph? https://www.ebay.com/itm/225794695690 Awesome because he's flipping off the yankees, obviously. Best overall: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Władysław_Kozakiewicz#Olympic_gold_and_Kozakiewicz's_gesture in Poland, they apparently re-named the gesture in honor of this specific salute he gave to the russian crowd in 1980.
  11. If you're reading through some wrestling results and either Maryland or Virginia Tech participated at the tournament or match? Probably just me.
  12. Well, self-centered, anyway.
  13. I was hoping I could maybe get there sooner by finding an easy weight class.
