  1. Yup. I trust who I heard it from. I understand the poaching before coaching is the norm now. And it's about to be the norm in hs, at least in some states. But it's really hard for me to see how it's sustainable. It's also contributing to brain drain in the amount of quality coaches willing to coach at mid tier programs.. because., what's the point if anything you build is poached by people with more resources*. ITT was already happening but it's happening more and more. *im well aware why kids transfer and all the other stuff.. that's irrelevant to what this stuff is doing big picture.
  2. It really is becoming the wild Wild West. Especially after hearing that mid tier guys are being offered 20,000 or more to transfer
  3. It's pretty clear smith stayed until Fix graduated. Truly the GOAT internationally and one of the greatest coaches ever. People can argue if he stayed too long but he's still one of the greatest.
  4. I don't ever tell my kids to take twirly birds, but I do "ask about the score" "and if there was a caution" and make sure to take my time going back to the corner
  5. I will not be mad if I'm wrong. This next year will be very big for them.
  6. If Ramos had been hired I really believe they'd be doing better
  7. I'm at point I really think at least a couple of the coaches know this and just are trying to win as much as possible before it crashes down. And I've gotten sick of people responding to simply taking logical conclusions about where this is going with 1. claiming it's just being mad about it not being my team 2. Pretending these trends aren't concerning while fb and bb are discussing them openly so it is what it is. I'll enjoy it while it lasts
  8. I'm kinda done with the "no team points at tournament" crap. Especially when it's much more realistic for smaller hs and college programs to be able to get a top 25, top 15 top 10 etc finish and highlight that to promote their program to admin/boosters. And build support Im very well aware of the arguments both ways of doing championships. for it so hearing them told to me isn't interesting. But its very hard to take people seriously if they talk about growing the sport/helping not big programs then promote not keeping team points
  9. Don’t you know that if you point out the issues and long term detriment to sport.. that it’s “obviously” because it’s not your team and you’re just jealous.. and/or you’re just not willing to do what it “takes” and aren’t competitive enough sarcasm obviously
  10. I haven't seen anything for it? Is he doing it this year?
  11. I remember seeing some other highly ranked recruits. And I’m not a Bono fan either. I said it’s the only bright spot. He’ll probably move on sooner than later. It’s his mo
  12. Only real bright spot is the recruiting class coming in... BUT, Bono wearing out his welcome after 2-4 years isn't exactly surprising anymore...
  13. Last part can’t be understated. In PA, and to some degree OH, you’re much more likely to get a borderline random school with a coach who wrestled in college for 4 years and that coach consistently produces 1-2 state level kids at an “average” program. Whereas in most other states, that level of coach is almost always only in the powerhouse or club scene
  14. I’m going to offer a not really “controversial” but maybe “offensive” take having been around this stuff for awhile.. When it comes to national/state rankings.. the difference between being ranked 24/25 or 9/10, or even 10-15 ranking… isn’t going to actually affect the opportunities a kid gets from colleges or their seeding at sectional/regional .. It will matter to the “dad” or the kid. But it doesn’t actually matter
  15. It says “take a gamble on me” with a picture of Nelson. Cue the social media “engagement” minnow wants
  16. The Nelson brands meme is creating the biggest.. buzz I guess is right word
  17. You can be short for a weight but getting down to the next is not fun
  18. I understand your point and don’t disagree necessarily. The issue lies in this There are multiple, not single “ehhh”/iffy cases, multiple cases where many people know something is up, or that a person shouldn’t be coaching/be around wresting. But that person has “powerful friends” or litigation could happen and it prevents the right things from being done. Or no one wants to believe.. and all that at least delays the right thing until it it becomes a ticking time bomb thet is going to eventually blow up, but everyone continues like it’s business as usual until it all crashes. Then afterwards, pretty everyone is like “yeah we heard/knew”. Do I have a point.. eh just that things/stories like this don’t come from nowhere and people are starting to get sick of them being ignored. Final point, both Willie/Rokfin and and Saylor/Flo are agreeing on something. That says a lot by itself
  19. I coach in Chicagoland. I have enough to deal with so I’ll just say. No one is surprised so far
  20. I just say things like “open up” “Try stuff, nothing to lose” Do my best to be Neutral and non biased each way. I tell them before I’m not coaching either specifically.
  21. You know, there’s a lot, way too much “alleged” stuff that’s gotten swept under or ignored. For a lot of different but related things in wrestling So in a way I’m happy this dude is exposing himself. Hopefully it’ll lead to the rest getting exposed
