  1. I don’t have any issue with returning medalists getting deference. I do have an issue with the lack of logic in creating a structure where all the other competitors are not wrestling their quarters in the same session. You do see how that is a disadvantage to the four guys involved relative to their peers who were also going through challenge tourney from the beginning no?
  2. Did the 4 seed in the top of the bracket win one?
  3. I asked this on the Session 1 thread but why are Mendez wrestling their quarterfinal match tonight rather than in the previous session when all the others were. Are there any other weight classes here that is happening? Seems unbelievably to whoever wins that match.
  4. This may have been discussed earlier but I am being lazy. Why was the Mendez/Yianni quarter not wrestled when all the other quarters were. Why will they wrestle tonight and then take on Zain in the same session when no other semi finalists have that burden? Seems patently unfair.
  5. When has dake ever said otherwise? It is a huge advantage to miss the challenge and sit in the finals, there is no denying it. as far as anyone knows dake has a huge amount of respect for jb and was merely pointing out the inequity of the system. but that doesnt mean he doesnt respect him. he has trained many years to defeat the GOAT and he did so. Imagine how JB will feel if he cant get past the challenge tournament to even face him. in my mind that is the more likely scenario.
  6. yes this…the weights should be between the weights for non olympic years…the sport is run by doofuses and as such will never reach its potential among the others. when you take half your star athletes and ask them to go up or down while the other half stays their natural weight, you are cutting your own throat…and dont even get me started on stigmatizing the non oly weights the other 3/4 of the time…it is plain dumb from any business perspective known to man
  7. This is a good move for hamiti…coleman scott coached austin oconnor to 2 natl champships at the a similar weight…hamiti is tough…had mm on the ropes at big tens no?
  8. Say what you will but Manning is a hell of a coach. Are you saying that if he sees a situation being handled completely different than it has been in his many many years in the business he should say nothing? If Starocci won last week Lewis would have been the two seed wrestling the 3 seed in the semis. Now he gets Starocci…effectively relegating him to the 4 seed. Anybody should see the problem here.
  9. Feeder programs for the big schools? This is what NIL and the transfer portal have wrought. Now all the mid tier programs are the St Louis Browns for the Yanks. You are witnessing the end of college athletics as we once knew it. Dirty at times yes but providing opportunities to a broad array of kids to go to college. As these schools lose their best athletes…diamonds in the rough if you will…the bigs come in and gobble them up leaving the teams as doormats and what little attendance and donor $ they were getting heading for the exits. This is only the beginning. These canaries are sending us a warning but “there aint nothing we can do about it”!
  10. sorry zain…i never have met a zane or zain…very wrestling specific other than zane grey the great writer of the old west
  11. I am very impressed that Fan of Purdue recognized it as chess! Well done sir! I thought it was just signifying random noise with unrelated characters. I wouldn’t have even had a second guess…the BANG! Learn something new everyday.
  12. NC State definitely…and well enforced….and not in season but from cradle to grave….first day freshman year till you walk off campus…if Ok State does it, they have had a tought time enforcing it…won’t name names but quite a few athletes there have had trouble complying
  13. To be honest I didnt even think of it possibly being an asset actually. I actually felt ripped off that they were tipping their hand before I had a chance to see it happen but you bring up a very good point. Thanks again.
