Quickly scanned through the matches on YouTube. For the most part our guys liked pretty bad. You would have thought Gilman was suffering from a bad weight cut and Kemerer looked particularly disinterested.

i don't think kem looked disinterested. he just got outwrestled in every position. he initiated almost every exchange other than the early headlock. was very active. just not very effective. i thought his timing and feel looked really off.

I thought everything about his wrestling looked off. Did you see his first match against White? It looked like a couple of guys in practice at the end of a long season that agreed to expend very little effort, yet both guys looked exhausted at the end. It just seemed uninspired, like he doesn't even know why he's wrestling anymore, but perhaps I'm being a little harsh.

Skatzka convincingly beats the guy who convincingly beat Kemerer eliminating Kemerer.

What's interesting about quite a few of these non-ranking tournaments recently is that:

For the Klippan Womens International Tournament(seniors), Japan sent a team consisting of only 7 high school students and the won three weights(50, 57 and 62kg).  They had one second place finisher(53), two 3rd place finishes(68 and 76) and one 5th place(65).

For Dan Kolov, Japan only sent college students for all styles.  Fujinami won the collegiate championships at 55kg with ease last year, but I'm sure this is just her testing herself against bigger opponents again.  Only 3 more months to determine most of the spots for Japan's 2023 World team/Olympic team.

Japan had a national team camp the other week and Fujinami was practicing with Susaki most of the time.   You can see Fujinami pinned an opponent today using one of Susaki's signature moves-> Bent leg turk with crossface.
