Matt Finesilver at 92 KG is as surprising as seeing the Israeli at 86 KG has a last name of Kalishkanov.

I imagine he beat Finesilver out or Finesilver decided too late and they didn't have a 92 KG so they said 'Why not?'

I am leaning the latter.

Why was he unable to compete before?

He popped for something severe enough to have his 2022 Worlds Bronze medal taken away but not severe enough to keep him from essentially competing straight away.  It was like a 3 month ban that he was already done with by thr time UWW announced it.

Wow... Micic is competing @ 65Kg?

That's certainly is quite a jump from 57Kg... bypassing 61Kg altogether.

Hos drop to 57 KG at last years worlds was nearly a last minute thing.  He had said in an interview shortly after he won bronze that the plan was 65 KG there, too.

Why is the 86 Kg guy's name a surprise?

15% of Israelis have Russian/Soviet origins.  I don't think Kalishkanov is that uncommon a surname in the former Soviet nations.  It basically means "maker of fancy bread, " if I am not mistaken.

I was thinking less about a Russian general and more about an arms designer, but not surprised to see a Soviet-type name on an Israeli roster.

You are being entirely too literal and need to lighten up.
