Sooooo the David Taylor problem? I mean, you brought up Grand Prix so that’s instantly where my mind went. Quite an ironic comparison methinks

it is one thing to beat a medalist, it is another to win a medal.   That's all I said.  Relax folks.  It's okay.

... Didn't you say that he was incapable of bringing home a medal?  Wasn't that your stance?

It is okay for you to have an opinion.  It is also okay for it to be wrong.  Relax.  It's okay.

And it is another thing to have beaten multiple medalists.  If you can regularly beat guys that have won medals it should be obvious that you should be viewed as a medal threat.

I believe the writing is on the wall for Valencia.

If he were going to head to Mexico he would have already.

Unfortunately for us gents who want to see him do that, if he competes at 92 KG, I believe he wins the spot for us.  That gives him a shot at a medal at Worlds this year.  If(when) he wins that medal the cost to transfer becomes considerably more.

I agree with 99% of that. I just don’t go so far ahead of myself to consider a guy world medal threat….who is not competing in the world championships. Countless upon countless examples of people who have beaten a medalist, yet never competed in a world championship, let alone medaled, keep me from taking that step.

Maybe this will simmer everyone’s onions:

Do I believe he has the talent and skills to win a medal some day?  Sure.
Do I consider him a medal threat in a tournament before he is able to put it together enough to qualify for said tournament?  No

This is true, but I think he'll have more success against international competition than, for instance, Brooks.

His issues are David Taylor and that Americans rely on conditioning, which is his kryptonite.  I hope he joins his brother in Mexico.  I think he has an excellent shot at a medal.  Personally, I enjoy watching him.

Mexico will find him loading up on frijoles, mole, hueveos rancheros, burritos, menudo, tamales and more. He will be wrestling Gable Stevenson weight before you know it and will successfully bypass Cox and Snyder.

How about some of those agave distillates?  Will he load up on those?

Valencia can wrestle for Mexico but not this year.

There is a window and waiting time for transferring to another country.

Seems there is a de facto "transfer portal" now for freestyle (international) not just folk (domestic).

In the future, guys might be able to wrestle for Mars or Venus or Jupiter.

I wonder if by then August Wesley will be representing Uranus.
